Warrnambool is the largest city on the Great Ocean Road and is endowed with some of this country's most scenic beaches and during winter is home to the Southern Right Whale who migrate to Logan's Beach to breed. Between the months of June & October small pods of whales can be seen with their new born calves at quite close distances. There are a number of Warrnambool Caravan Parks where you can rest your weary feet after a day's exploration of this rugged coastline. Warrnambool is less than one hour's drive from Port Campbell National Park on the Great Ocean Road where you will find the world famous 12 Apostles and other equally spectacular coastal formations such as Loch Ard Gorge and the Bay of Islands. Warrnambool has a fine selection of cafes, restaurants and various craft shops. To learn about the history of the Shipwreck Coast a visit to Flagstaff Hill is a must - in fact there is so much to see and do around here that you will probably regret you had not stayed longer. The kids will for sure because Warrnambool is one big kids' playground - that is if you can entice them out of the caravan parks. Warrnambool caravan parks: warm, country hospitality for families.
